Everything you might want to know before your first booking.
No. Deeplay is strictly for platonic social companionship and activities. Companions are verified locals who share experiences like coffee, meals, city walks, karaoke, and events. All interactions must be appropriate social activities. Our terms of service strictly prohibit any non-platonic use.
Companions set their own hourly rates, typically between $40–$80 AUD per hour. A 5% service fee is added at checkout. For example, if a Companion charges $50/hour for 2 hours, you'd pay $105 ($100 + $5 service fee).
Every Companion goes through a multi-step verification process: (1) admin review of their application, (2) government-issued ID verification via Stripe Identity, (3) phone number verification via SMS, and (4) email verification. Only fully verified Companions appear on the platform.
Cancel 72+ hours before the activity for a full refund. 48–72 hours: 75% refund. 24–48 hours: 50% refund. Less than 24 hours: no refund. If a Companion declines your booking request, the hold on your card is released automatically.
Yes. If you're 18 or older, based in Sydney, and enjoy sharing your city with others, you can apply to become a Companion. The application takes about 5 minutes and our team reviews it within 12–24 hours.
Yes. All payments are processed through Stripe, a PCI Level 1 certified global payment processor. Deeplay never stores your card details. Your card is authorised (held) when you book, and only charged once the Companion accepts.
Popular activities include coffee catch-ups, brunch or dinner, city walks and sightseeing, harbour walks, karaoke, museum and gallery visits, shopping trips, hiking, and attending local events. You and your Companion agree on the activity beforehand.
Yes. With One-Tap Extension, you can extend your booking by 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3 hours during an active activity. A new hold is placed on your card, and once the Companion confirms, the extension begins seamlessly.
You can contact our support team at any time. We take safety seriously and have processes in place to handle disputes, cancellations, and any concerns. Both parties can also report issues directly through the platform within 24 hours of the booking.
Companions receive their earnings via Stripe Connect, deposited directly into their nominated bank account. Deeplay retains a 15% commission, and the remaining 85% goes to the Companion after the activity is confirmed complete.
