Practical tips

Getting around Darwin

  • Darwin has a wet season (roughly November to April) and a dry season (roughly May to October). Many markets and outdoor events run in the dry season.
  • Do not swim in rivers, billabongs or the sea unless the area is signposted as safe — saltwater crocodiles and box jellyfish are a real risk.
  • It is hot and humid year-round. Book walks for early morning or late afternoon, and carry water.
  • For a first booking, choose a public, central meeting spot and agree on the plan in Deeplay messages beforehand.
  • Having a good time? You can extend a booking during the activity, from an extra 30 minutes up to 3 hours.
